Camp Africa’s new venue captures the heartbeat of Africa, combining a wilderness experience with a challenging Adventure Course.
Wildschutbrand Farm borders the Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) and the Klaasjagersberg mountain range. Camp Africa finds its home, nestled in an ancient gum forest, next to the famous Cape Point Vineyards and close to the historical farm graveyard. The forest affords the camp shelter from the wind and protection from the harsh sunlight.
In the coolness of the forest, one finds peace and tranquillity, far from the madding crowd. A wide variety of endemic bird species, such as Forest Buzzards, Hadedaas, Spotted Eagle Owls and the eerie Night Jars choose the tall gum trees for shelter, whilst the forest canopy is also home to the rare caracal, genet cats, mongoose and a pair of squirrels.
Bordering the forest on the mountainside is a large Buffalo grassed field for sporting activities, whilst on the otherside an awesome Adventure Course, operated by SunScene, is situated, which features a giant cargo net, a suspension bridge, a host of low rope activities, a climbing wall and a 120m ‘Zipline’, the Flying Fox, over the farm dam. Raft\building, also a great teambuilding activity and canoeing take place in the farm dam.
The Vineyards provide for excellent walks and lead to a mountain hike onto the mountain, where one can ‘walk across the mountain top between two oceans.
